Even though the disciples may have attended the synagogues on the Sabbath to evangelize (Acts ), there is already a definite transition from the Sabbath to the Lord's Day in the New Testament.

The Lord wants us to keep His Sabbath Day and keeping the correct Sabbath Day will keep you in good graces with Him. But, when exactly is the Lord’s Sabbath Day? Is it .   The Sabbath on the seventh day is the 'Lords Day' from creation, not the first day or the six days leading up to it. Exodus 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant.

THE SABBATH & THE LORD'S DAY (Part 2 OF 2) By. Elwin R. Roach We noted previously that the Sabbath was not intended to be a day for which believers were to travel across town for church services, nor was it a designated day for pastors to deliver their sermons to . Then we turn to the Book of Acts, and there we read that the church was born — and not on a Sabbath day, but on the Lord’s Day, the first day of the week. Notice Acts And when the day of Pentecost was fully come.

Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Exodus That is clear, isn’t it.

Now we have learned three things. The Lord has a day. The Sabbath is the Lord’s day. The seventh day is. A. MATTHEW [8], For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. Which day is the Lord's Day. THE SABBATH DAY (MATTHEW ; MARK ) God's WORD says that the SABBATH DAY IS THE LORD'S DAY. There is NO scripture that says Sunday or the FIRST DAY of the week is the Lords Day.

God's Word says the Lord's day is the Sabbath day. He challenges interpretations of Sabbath law that would exclude doing good on the Sabbath (Matt. ); he insists that man was not made for the Sabbath and that he himself is “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark ); he even suggests that the children of Abraham should be freed on the Sabbath from all that unjustly binds them (Luke ).

By J.N. Andrews. Chapter The Sunday Lord's Day Not Traceable to the Apostles. General statement respecting the Ante-Nicene Fathers—The change of the Sabbath never mentioned by one of these Fathers—Examination of the historical argument for Sunday as the Lord's day—This argument compared with the like argument for the Catholic festival of the Passover.

The Lords Day Happy Sabbath. 1, likes 1 talking about this. Speaking to the world about a day set for the worship of the Creator of heaven and the earth and all that exist seen and ers: 2K. The Lord's Day: Sabbath or Sunday. The earliest reference we have to the Lord's day, besides the vague comment made in the Book of Revelation (), is in the letter to the Magnesians written by Ignatius of Antioch in A.D.

Also, John, being in the Spirit on the Lord's day demonstrates that the first day of the week bore enough significance to merit such a familiar nomenclature as "the Lord's day" and John speaks of this day as if it were a normal occurrence. A series of authors assert the premise that Sunday is "a new day of worship that was chosen to commemorate the unique, salvation-historical event of the death and resurrection of Christ, rather than merely being another day for celebrating the Sabbath.".

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested how Christians ought to approach the Sabbath Day, the Decalogue, and the Lord's Day. Tremendous and thorough read. Carson is one of the best commentators there is; he brilliantly relays difficult concepts in a concise and cogent manner/5(9).

Yet the Sabbath is not mandatory for Christians. Would it not follow that there would be a day that is essential for Christians in order to keep the essence of the third commandment. Granted, we know from Tradition the answer is yes.

The day is Sunday, which we call the “Lord’s day” (see Rev. which the Sabbath had degenerated at the time of our Lord’s earthly ministry and this is why the Lord Jesus Christ, "the Lord of the Sabbath," was involved in so many Sabbath controversies during His public ministry.

In the book of Acts the Sabbath is set forth not as the "Christian day of worship;" rather. The Lord's day: Rev ; C. John's Pattern: In all the 5 books that John wrote, he always called the Sabbath "the Sabbath" If Rev was the Sabbath, John would have said, "I was in the Spirit on the Sabbath".

This proves it was not the Sabbath but the First day of the week: Sunday. Let’s take an in-depth look at this topic and examine the facts about what day is the Sabbath of the Bible.

According to the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath is located on the seventh day of the week. Exodus says the following, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.”. The Lord’s day is not a direct counterpart to the Jewish Sabbath and the Sabbath day was not changed from the seventh day to the first day.

“Sunday is not the Christian Sabbath” and it’s not biblically correct to refer to Sunday as the Sabbath because nowhere in Scripture is the first day of the week referred to as the Sabbath.

Description: The Lords Day (First Day Sabbath), is a comprehensive study containing detailed biblical evidence supporting the New Testaments account regarding the changing of the 7th day Sabbath to the 1st day of the week.

The book is easy to read, and filled with hundreds of Biblical passages that are written out for your convenience. The book not just discusses that the Sabbath is no longer the seventh day, but now the Lord's day, the first day of the week, but also makes many practical suggestions for Christians, ministers, and churches how to keep it holy.

The Lord's day is a great blessing, and Christians who do not keep it, deprive themselves greatly. The Lord's Day in Christianity is generally Sunday, the principal day of communal is observed by most Christians as the weekly memorial of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is said in the canonical Gospels to have been witnessed alive from the dead early on the first day of the week.

The phrase appears in Rev. According to some sources, Christians held corporate worship. Torah commentator J.H.

Hertz states that “The Creator endowed the Sabbath with a blessing which would be experienced by all who observed is specifically marked off as a day consecrated to God and the life of the spirit.” 4 John H.

Walton further remarks, “The divine Sabbath of Genesis 2 is not simply an etiology of the human. The Lord's Day Sabbath was the day between the two (Luke ). The documentation package describes "Point 89 & 89a" in the index in this way: "Christ's followers met on the 'Lord's day' (Sunday—resurrection day) according to the Bible for their fellowship and communion.

(On the Jewish Sabbath Christ preached in the synagogue.)". More specifically, we will learn how the “Lord’s Day” of Revelationthe first day of the week of Acts and 1 Corinthiansand the Jewish Sabbath are three separate days in the Bible.

There is far too much mixing the three and making them all refer to one day.Bible Truth For Today Sabbath / Lord's Day / Sunday. Regarding Sunday, please note that Sunday, the first day of the week, is NOT a "Christian Sabbath" - nor is the Christian's "Sunday" in any way a replacement for the Jewish "Sabbath"!.

Regarding the "Lord's Day", they are ALL His!Regarding "the Lord's Day" being the first day of the week, please consider the following. (This article is part 2. See also: Part 1 ~ What Happened to the Lords Day?) Most Christians believe that Sunday is the Lord’s Day.

They believe that Jesus transferred the sacredness of the seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday, the first day of the week, when He was resurrected.
